Steinback said he took the trip because he felt America changed and he was losing touch with it. So, his trip was a trip of discovery. This book is one of the fascinating non-fiction works by the prolific, versatile, and best-loved American writers, John Steinbeck. This book was published in the year Steinbeck won the Nobel Prize for Literature. This meant it was an immediate best-seller with it's autobiographic revelations eagerly sought by all Steinbeck fans.
