This volume is an illustrated work of use to anyone who owns either antiques or works of art and is anxious to give them appropriate care. Written by a number of major conservators from Sotheby's and elsewhere, it offers advice on how to look after a wide range of objects, spanning furniture to ceramics, clocks to prints and drawings. Under each section are discussed questions of storage and display, handling and transportation, and advice is also given on how to recognize damage or deterioration that may need the attention of a professional conservator. "Sotheby's Caring for Antiques" is illustrated in full-colour to enable the reader to follow easily the practices discussed in the text and is supplementary by a useful glossary of materials and directory of conservation bodies.
